Walton JV Defeats a Large Binghamton Team

Posted Tuesday, September 04, 2007 by RR
When Deposit's JV season was cancelled last week, Walton found themselves with no game on opening week. Coach Hoover and Mr. Williams made some emails and calls and were able to set up a game with Binghamton. Binghamton's JV was to play Henniger Saturday morning, so they were going to bring their 9th graders to play Walton. Their game with Henniger was scratched, so they brought their entire JV to play (All 65 of them). The Warriors drew first blood when Evan Boyd scored after a long drive. Dan Gehl threw the 2pt conversion pass to Dan Bowker. Bingo scored next with a long run and missed the extra point. Walton's offense kicked in during the 2nd half and Jimmy MacDonald had a touchdown and some beautiful runs including a 74 left and some 33 rights. Kyle Baxley ran in the 2pt conversion on a beautifully run option. Dan Gehl tacked on the third TD and also ran in the conversion. The Walton line did an awesome job of opening holes all afternoon. Ninth graders Dan Bowker, Devon Ryan, Chris Calabrease, Pat Smith and Dylan Hornbech all stepped up to play in their first JV game. The JV travels to Greene this Saturday morning at 10 am. Last year, Greene tried to spoil Walton's Undefeated season during a night game that ended up being rain soaked and muddy. This years game is sure to be as tough.
